I bought a 3255 garage door opener with my house a year ago. I also bought one of the bulky "Universal" systems at Radio Shack since I had 2 cars that needed to open the garage door and I didn't know that I could do it with factory Liftmaster remotes. It worked great for a few months until it stopped working. Since I am hopeless with technical stuff, I called your tech support number and they were able to get me the right remote and they walked me through the setup. In less than 2 minutes out of the box, I had both of the remotes working. If only I had called sooner, I would have saved hours of frustration and $70.

Quick Guide to Programming the Liftmaster 371LM

1. Press the purple “learn” button on the motor unit. The indicator light will turn on for 30 seconds.
2. Within 30 seconds, press and hold the button on the remote.
3. Let go of the button when the motor light blinks. This means thet the remote now works with your garage door motor. If light bulbs are not installed, two clicks will be heard.

To Erase All Codes From Motor Memory

To deactivate any unwanted remote, first erase all codes: Press and hold the “learn” button on motor unit until the learn indicator light goes out (approximately 6 seconds). All previous codes are now erased. Reprogram each remote that you wish to use.
