G1702LM Universal Emergency Release Keyswitch

A through-the-door keyswitch that disengages the opener from the outside. Mount it in the garage door itself, run the included cable to the opener's emergency-release lever, and any time you're locked out of the house and the garage door is closed, a key turn drops the lever and lets you lift the door by hand. Universal — works with any opener, any brand.

The G1702LM is a purely mechanical device — it pulls the emergency-release lever via a cable, so it works with any opener that has a manual release (essentially all of them). It does not provide remote/wireless control.

When you need this

  • You enter the house through the garage and have ever been locked out.
  • Power outage with no battery backup and you need to get a car out.
  • Renters or vacation guests who don't have a remote or app access.
  • Backup access during wildfire/hurricane evacuation when speed matters.

My wife locked herself out twice last year. Installed this on a Saturday afternoon. Hasn't happened since because she carries the key. Should have done it years ago.
