Stanley exited the residential garage door opener business in 1997. The 1082 is a hard-to-find replacement part โ€” confirm your opener is in our compatibility list before ordering, or send us a photo of the powerhead.

Programming the Stanley 1082

Each button has its own 10-switch DIP block. Match each receiver to its corresponding button bank.

  1. Open the back cover of the 1082 and note both 10-switch DIP banks.
  2. For the first opener: open the powerhead, locate the receiver board, and set the 10-switch block to match the top-button bank.
  3. For the second opener: set its receiver to match the bottom-button bank. Test both buttons.

Stanley powerheads from the late 1980s sometimes have only 9 active switches โ€” leave the 10th switch in either position on those units.

What customers say

Two ST420 openers in the same garage, one for each bay. The 1082 was the only two-button replacement I could find anywhere. Works perfectly.

Texdoor confirmed compatibility with my 1989 ST600 before I bought. No surprises, just a working remote.
