The 61LM is for older openers with 9 small DIP switches inside. If your opener has a colored "learn" button instead, you need the 371LM (purple learn) or 971LM (green/orange/red learn).

Programming the 61LM

Match the 9 DIP switches inside the remote to the 9 DIP switches on the receiver โ€” that's it. No "learn" sequence required.

  1. Open the back cover of the 61LM. Note the position of all 9 small DIP switches (each can be up, middle, or down).
  2. Open the receiver or opener housing and locate the matching 9-switch DIP block.
  3. Set every switch on the receiver to the exact same position as the remote. Replace covers and test.

Picking a unique pattern is up to you โ€” choose any combination of up/middle/down. Avoid all-up or all-down to reduce the chance of conflict with neighbors.

My opener is from 1989 and the 61LM is identical to the one I had originally. Plug-and-play.

Works perfectly. Note that this is the OLD-style DIP switch remote โ€” make sure your opener actually has DIP switches before ordering.
