The 3800 is the right pick for low-ceiling garages, high-lift conversions, or any installation where a ceiling-mounted opener and rail won't fit. Requires torsion springs — for extension-spring doors choose the 3255 or 3280 instead.

Programming the 3800

New 3800 units ship with the purple Security+ learn button. Pair remotes from any Liftmaster Security+ family with the procedure below.

  1. Press the purple learn button on the side of the motor unit. The indicator light stays on for 30 seconds.
  2. Within 30 seconds, press and hold the desired button on your remote until the motor light blinks twice.
  3. Repeat for each additional remote and your wireless keypad — capacity is 8 remotes plus 1 keypad.

Mount the motor unit per the included DVD — wall-mount jackshafts require precise alignment with the torsion-bar centerline. Professional installation recommended for first-time installers.

What customers say

★★★★★

Converted to high-lift to fit a vehicle lift in the garage. The 3800 was the only way to make it work — ceiling-mounted openers can't handle the geometry. Whisper quiet too.

★★★★★

Replaced an old chain-drive that woke the kids every night. The 3800 starts up so smoothly you can barely hear the door move. Five stars.
